Shooting is an all-abilities sport that has been part of the Olympics since the first modern games in 1896 and is one in which Australia excels. It’s the only sport to feature in both the winter and summer Olympics and consists of 15 events across the three disciplines of rifle, pistol and shotgun.
For more information on the sport of shooting, including how to follow our Olympic and Paralympic and Commonwealth athletes, visit: Shooting Australia.
Clay Target Shooting originated as a way for hunters to maintain their marksmanship out of season and has since developed into a sport enjoyed across Australia by both hunters and non-hunters alike. There are nearly 300 clay target clubs across every state in Australia, and you can find your local club by visiting the Australian Clay Target Association.
Field & Game Australia have over 50 clay target shooting ranges across Australia, with almost 100 competitive clay target events every month. Information on how to get involved can be found here.
